Can't See Your Medical Marijuana Certificate in the State Portal?
If your doctor's certification isn't showing in your Pennsylvania, West Virginia, or other state medical marijuana account, this guide explains exactly where to look — and the one mistake that confuses most renewing patients.
Pennsylvania: certificate not showing in PA Department of Health portal
The Certificates page in the PA patient portal only shows your current active certificate — not upcoming or pending ones. This confuses many patients, but it's completely normal.
Where to find your doctor's PA certification
The up-to-date information about your certification is shown in a different place inside your PA medical marijuana account:
- Log in to your PA Medical Marijuana Patient Portal
- Go to Profile Settings (or click your name in the top right)
- Look for the "Card Information" box
- This box shows your certification status and card details
What you'll see in the Card Information box
The Card Information box displays:
- Your current card status and expiration date
- Whether a new certification has been submitted by your doctor
- When your new card will be mailed
Why this happens in Pennsylvania
The PA portal was designed so the Certificates page only displays one record at a time — your active certificate. When your doctor submits a new certification (whether you're renewing or transitioning between providers), the system holds it in queue until your existing card expires. The Card Information box is the live status indicator the state uses to communicate that queued status.
The doctor's certification is what triggers the state to print and mail your new card. Once your current card expires, the new certificate the doctor issued will appear on the Certificates page. Until then, check the Card Information box for the latest status.
West Virginia: certificate not showing in the MyComplia portal
Renewing patients almost always click "Create New Application" → "New Patient Registration", expecting to see their certification there. It won't show up. WV uses a separate flow for renewals, and your certification is only attached to the renewal application.
If you're a renewing WV patient
Don't start a new patient application. Use the renewal flow instead:
- Log in to your WV MyComplia portal (use the same account you registered with originally)
- Click the menu bar at the top of the page
- Choose "Renewing Patients" from the menu — not "Create New Application"
- Follow the prompts. When you reach the certification step, click "View Available Certifications"
- Your doctor's certification will be listed there. Select it and continue.
Why this happens in West Virginia
A "New Patient Registration" application only looks for first-time certifications. Since you already have an account on file, your renewal certification is attached to your existing record — not to a brand-new application. The renewal flow is the only one that pulls it up.
If you're a brand-new WV patient
Use "Create New Application" → "New Patient Registration", and on the Physician/Condition Information tab, choose Online — Electronic Certification and click "View Available Certifications". Your certification should appear there.
Other states: where to find your certification
In most other states Green Bridge Society serves, missing certifications are uncommon — but if it happens, the answer is the same in all of them: your certification will show up inside your account on the state's official portal, not in your email and not on Green Bridge's site.
Find your state below for the right portal link, then log in and look for your patient dashboard, profile, or certification record.
State-specific notes
New York and Virginia
Your certification is the access document. It's emailed to you and viewable in your portal account. There's no separate plastic card to wait for. If you don't see it, check your spam folder first, then log into the state portal.
Louisiana
There's no patient portal at all. Your provider sends the recommendation directly to your chosen pharmacy. If your medicine isn't ready, call the pharmacy first to confirm receipt. Most issues are resolved at the pharmacy level.
Maine
Your certification is a printed document from your provider. The state doesn't store it in a patient-facing portal. If you can't find your printed certification, contact us for a re-issue.
Frequently asked questions
How long after my appointment until the certification appears in my state account?
In most states the certification is submitted electronically within minutes of your appointment ending. Allow up to 24 to 48 hours for it to appear in your state portal account. If 48 hours have passed and you still don't see it, contact us at (814) 360-5353.
Does a missing certification mean I can't shop at the dispensary?
Not always. In Pennsylvania, your active card stays valid until its printed expiration date even while your renewal is processing. In West Virginia, the same is true. In New York and Virginia, however, the certification itself is the access document — it must be present in your portal account before you can shop. Always check your card or certification expiration date first.
What if my doctor never submitted my certification?
If 48 hours have passed since your appointment with Green Bridge Society and your state account still shows no update, contact us directly. We can verify the submission was sent and re-issue if there was a technical error on our end or the state's end.
I'm in PA and my old card hasn't expired yet — should I worry?
No. This is the most common reason patients think their certificate is missing. The PA Certificates page only shows the active certificate. Your new one is queued and will appear automatically once the old card expires. Check the Card Information box in Profile Settings to confirm the new certification was received.
I'm in WV and the system says no certifications are available — what do I do?
Make sure you're in the Renewing Patients flow, not the New Patient flow. If you're already in the right flow and still see nothing, the certification may not have synced yet — wait 24 hours and try again. After 48 hours with no update, contact us.
Still not seeing your certification?
