Maryland Medical Cannabis Certification
We help you through the Maryland medical cannabis process — from state registration questions to provider certification to your first dispensary visit.
How It Works in Maryland
🏥 Two-Step Process
Getting your Maryland medical cannabis certification involves two steps: completing your Maryland state registration and then seeing a certifying provider.
State of Maryland (MCA) — manages patient registration through OneStop and issues your MCA Patient ID Number.
Green Bridge — helps guide you through the process and connects you with a certifying provider once your Maryland registration is complete.
💰 Why Get a Medical Card When Rec Is Legal in MD?
Maryland legalized recreational cannabis in 2023, but medical patients still get real advantages:
✅ No 9% sales tax on medical purchases — recreational buyers pay it on every transaction
✅ Higher purchase limits — 120g per 30 days vs. recreational's 1.5oz cap per transaction
✅ Access at 18+ — recreational requires 21+
✅ More product variety — medical-only products like high-dose edibles and concentrates
📋 Maryland Requires State Registration First
Maryland patients should complete their state registration in OneStop before scheduling with a certifying provider. Once approved, you'll receive an MCA Patient ID Number, which is needed for certification.
Need help with the portal? Green Bridge can assist you with the Maryland state registration process, document questions, and general troubleshooting if needed.
📞 How Doctor Calls Work
Our doctors call patients in the morning, afternoon, and evening — including weekends if scheduled on a Friday. You'll complete a short intake when you schedule.
Calls may come from a private, unknown, or spam-labeled number, so please keep your phone nearby and turned on.

What You'll Need for Maryland OneStop Registration
📄 Registration Requirements
Maryland requires patients to register through OneStop before certification. Because registration requires sensitive personal information, including your full 9-digit Social Security Number, we recommend that patients complete this step themselves whenever possible.

✅ Your full 9-digit SSN (entered directly in OneStop)
✅ A valid government-issued photo ID (MD driver's license, state ID, military ID, or passport)
✅ A recent passport-style photo (white/off-white background, square, taken within 6 months)
✅ Proof of Maryland residency (dated within 90 days)
📸 Photo Requirements (Common Rejection Reason)
MCA is strict about photos. To avoid your application being returned:
✅ File type: .jpg, .png, or .gif only

✅ Square image: 600×600 px minimum, 1200×1200 px maximum
✅ Plain white or off-white background

• Glaucoma
• Cachexia / anorexia / wasting syndrome
• Any other chronic medical condition which is severe and for which other treatments have been ineffective
Maryland Rules to Know
⏳ 120-Day First Purchase Rule
If your certification is not used to make a purchase at a Maryland dispensary within 120 days, it becomes void.
📊 Rolling 30-Day Purchase Limit
Maryland tracks purchases on a rolling 30-day basis. Patients may purchase up to 120g of flower or the equivalent within that window.
🪪 Physical ID Card Is Optional
You do not need a physical MCA ID card to purchase at a dispensary. Patients can print a paper ID card at no charge through OneStop, and a physical card is optional for $25.
🔄 Registration & Certification Timelines
Patient registration is valid for 6 years.
Doctor certification must be renewed annually.
