Florida Medical Marijuana Certification

See a Florida doctor in person — and never be left to figure it out alone.

Florida requires an in-person exam with the physician who certifies you. We schedule you with Dr. Benjamin Krasne at his Fort Lauderdale office, help you through every screen of the state application, and connect you with a pharmacist who can teach you how to actually use it.

Book your in-office visit

New patients and transfers from another doctor are both welcome. Prefer to talk to a person first? Call us at (814) 360-5353.

All Florida visits are in person

Fusion Wellness

These are in-office appointments at Dr. Krasne’s practice. There is no telehealth option for your first visit in Florida — state law requires the certifying physician to examine you in person.

Your Visit

Two ways patients come to us

Whether this is your first certification or you’re moving over from another doctor, your first visit with Dr. Krasne happens at his office.

New Patient

You’ve never been certified in Florida

$199 / in-office visit

Your full initial evaluation with Dr. Krasne, including the in-person exam Florida requires.

  • In-person exam and evaluation
  • Certification entered in the state registry
  • Hands-on help with your state application

Transferring

You’re already certified by another doctor

$149 / in-office visit

Moving your care to Dr. Krasne. Because he becomes your certifying physician, Florida requires him to see you in person once.

  • In-person exam with your new physician
  • Your certification continues without a gap
  • Future renewals stay with Dr. Krasne
After You’re Certified

Most places certify you and disappear. We stay with you.

Getting the card is the easy part. Knowing what to actually buy, how much to take, and whether it’s working — that’s where people get lost. Almost nobody offers help with that part. We do, through a separate pharmacist consultation you can book alongside your certification.

Before you buy anything

Your first pharmacist call

We review your current medications, talk through what you’re hoping to improve, and explain what the products at the dispensary actually are — so you don’t walk in guessing.

First couple of weeks

Starting low, checking in

A follow-up to see how you’re doing. Too sleepy? Not helping yet? This is where most of the adjusting happens, and it’s the step most patients never get offered.

Around three weeks

Dialing it in

We fine-tune based on what you’ve actually experienced, and flag anything worth raising with Dr. Krasne or your regular doctor.

Whenever you need it

Still here

Questions come up months later. Call us. We also remind you when your renewal is coming so your card never lapses.

The pharmacist consultation is booked separately

It is not part of the certification visit, and it is not something most certification services offer at all. Our clinical pharmacist reviews your full medication list — blood thinners, sedatives, blood pressure medications — and walks you through what to buy, how to start, and how to tell whether it’s working. The more prescriptions you take, the more this matters.

Most patients book it right after certification, before their first dispensary trip. You can book it at any point, including months later when a question comes up.

Not sure whether you need one? Run your medication list through our free Med Check screener first. It takes a minute, costs nothing, and no account is required. If it flags something worth a closer look — and with several prescriptions it usually does — that’s the conversation the pharmacist consultation is for.

Getting Registered

The computer part? We’ll do it with you.

Florida’s registration is done online, and it trips up a lot of people. That is not a reason to give up on it — it’s just a reason to have someone on the phone with you.

What we help with

  • Setting up your state registry account and password
  • Uploading your photo and ID when the state asks for them
  • Walking you through the $75 state fee payment, screen by screen
  • Sorting it out when the state sends an email you don’t understand
  • Renewal reminders before your card expires, every year

How we help

By phone, at your pace, with a real person who will stay on the line until it’s finished. If it’s easier for your son or daughter to sit with you and do it together, we’re glad to have them on the call.

No app to download. No portal to learn. If you can answer the phone, we can get you registered.

Call us at (814) 360-5353 and we’ll get started whenever you’re ready.

Your Physician

The doctor you’ll actually see

Every Florida patient we schedule is seen by Dr. Krasne at his own practice in Fort Lauderdale.

Dr. Benjamin Krasne, board-certified anesthesiologist and founder of Fusion Wellness in Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Dr. Benjamin Krasne

Board-Certified Anesthesiologist · Founder, Fusion Wellness

Dr. Krasne is a board-certified anesthesiologist with more than a decade of experience caring for patients across 13 states. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Florida and earned his medical degree from the University of Miami.

Anesthesiology is a specialty built around two things that matter a great deal here: managing pain, and understanding exactly how medications interact and how they affect alertness and balance. For older patients taking several prescriptions, that background is not incidental — it’s the whole point.

Raised in Fort Lauderdale, Dr. Krasne founded Fusion Wellness to build something lasting in the community he grew up in. Outside of practice, he spends his time with his wife and their three children.

Step By Step

How your visit works

Three steps, and we handle the parts that aren’t medical.

STEP ONE

Book your appointment

Pick a time that works. We confirm it and tell you exactly what to bring.

STEP TWO

See Dr. Krasne at his office

Your in-person evaluation in Fort Lauderdale. He reviews your history and answers your questions.

STEP THREE

We get you registered

Dr. Krasne enters your certification, then we walk you through the state application by phone.

For Families

If you’re helping a parent through this

A lot of our Florida calls come from adult children, not patients. That’s welcome — and Florida has a formal way to make it official.

Florida caregivers

Florida lets a patient designate a caregiver who can go to the dispensary, pick up product, and help administer it. For someone who no longer drives or finds a dispensary overwhelming, this changes everything.

  • Caregiver must be 21 or older and a Florida resident
  • Free certification course through the state registry
  • Background screening required unless you’re a close relative
  • Separate $75 caregiver card fee, paid to the state

Tell us at booking and Dr. Krasne can list the caregiver when he enters the certification. We’ll help with that application too.

Bring family to the appointment

You’re welcome to come to the visit, be on the line while we do the state registration together, and sit in on the pharmacist consultation if your parent books one. Most families tell us the pharmacist conversation is the one that puts them at ease.

Many Florida dispensaries also deliver to the home, which is worth knowing if driving is a concern. We’ll point you to the ones near you that do.

Here for the season?

Florida does not require you to be a full-time resident. Seasonal residents qualify if you spend at least 31 consecutive days in Florida each year and maintain a residence here. If you don’t have a Florida license, you’ll provide two documents showing your Florida address instead — a lease, a utility bill, or recent mail from a bank or government agency.

One important caution: a card from another state does not work in Florida, and cannabis cannot legally be carried across state lines. If you spend winters here, you need a Florida certification. Call us before you arrive and we’ll have your paperwork ready.

Senior Living

For assisted living and care communities

We run a senior living program for facilities whose residents are asking about medical cannabis and whose staff need a clear, defensible way to handle it.

What we bring to your building

  • Staff and family education sessions, in plain language
  • Pharmacist-led safety screening — sedation, fall risk, interactions
  • Documentation templates your team can actually use
  • Clear hold parameters so staff know when to pause and escalate
  • Certification coordination for residents who qualify

Our approach

We emphasize non-combustion, measured-dose formats — tinctures, capsules, and topicals — which fit facility policy far better than anything smoked and make documentation straightforward.

Medical decisions stay with each resident’s treating clinicians. We provide education, safety guidance, and workflow support so your staff aren’t improvising.

Before You Come

What to bring

A short list. If you’re missing something, call us before your visit and we’ll sort it out.

  • A valid Florida driver’s license or state ID (seasonal residents: two documents showing your Florida address)
  • Any medical records or documentation of your condition, if you have them
  • A list of every medication and supplement you currently take — this one genuinely matters, and you can run it through our free Med Check screener before you come
  • Your reading glasses, if you use them
Questions

Common questions

Why can’t I do this by telehealth?

Florida requires the physician who certifies you to perform your initial examination in person. Once Dr. Krasne has examined you in his office, he can handle your future renewals by telehealth.

I’m already certified by a different doctor. Do I still need to come in?

Yes. Because Dr. Krasne becomes your certifying physician, Florida requires him to examine you in person once. After that first visit, your renewals stay with him.

Does the fee include my state registration?

No. Florida charges a separate $75 registry fee, paid directly to the state. We’ll walk you through paying it. Insurance does not cover certification or the state fee.

I’m not good with computers. Is that going to be a problem?

No. We do the online registration with you over the phone, at your pace, and we don’t hang up until it’s done. Family members are welcome on the call.

Will this interact with my other medications?

That’s exactly what our pharmacist consultation is for. It’s a separate appointment from your certification visit, and it’s the step we’d most encourage you not to skip if you take other prescriptions. You can book one here. For a quick free first pass, our Med Check screener will check your medication list in about a minute.

Is the pharmacist consultation part of the certification fee?

No — it’s booked and paid for separately. The certification gets you the card; the pharmacist consultation is where you learn how to use it safely alongside your other medications. Very few places offer it at all, which is exactly why we do.

Do I have to smoke it?

No. Most of our older patients never do. Tinctures, capsules, and topicals are measured, predictable, and generally a better fit. A pharmacist consultation is the best way to work out which format suits you.

How soon can I be seen, and where do I park?

[[ Add typical availability and parking / building directions — patients genuinely appreciate knowing where to park. ]]
