About the Maine Medical Cannabis Program
Maine's medical cannabis program is administered by the Office of Cannabis Policy (OCP) within the Department of Administrative and Financial Services. The program operates under Title 22, Chapter 558-C of the Maine Revised Statutes — also known as the Maine Medical Use of Cannabis Act. Telehealth certifications are explicitly authorized under Title 22 §2423-B, provided the practitioner conducts a full assessment and is registered with the Maine Board of Licensure in Medicine.
Maine first legalized medical cannabis in 1999 and removed all qualifying conditions in 2018 — making it one of the broadest medical cannabis programs in the United States. Adult-use cannabis is also legal in Maine, but the medical program offers higher possession limits, lower taxes, and stronger product options.

Maine Medical Marijuana — Common Questions
Why is your Maine pricing flat $75?
Maine's program is straightforward — a new visit and renewal visit take about the same time. We pass the simplicity through with flat $75 pricing for both. This is among the most affordable medical cannabis certifications in the country.
Do I need a Maine state ID card to buy medical cannabis?
No. Maine is one of the only states where patient registration is optional. Your written certification is your medical cannabis credential. Bring it to any licensed Maine dispensary or caregiver retail store along with your government-issued ID.
Does Maine have qualifying conditions for medical marijuana?
No. Maine removed all qualifying conditions in 2018. Your Maine-registered practitioner determines if cannabis may help your condition. This makes Maine one of the broadest medical cannabis programs in the United States.
How long is my Maine medical cannabis certification valid?
One year from issuance. Annual renewal required. We recommend renewing 30-60 days before expiration to avoid a gap in access.
What if I miss the practitioner's call?
Your practitioner will try again and may text. Calls sometimes show as "Unknown" or "Spam Risk." If we can't reach you, our office will follow up to reschedule.
Can I use my Maine certification in other states?
Some states have reciprocity that may recognize Maine certifications for visiting medical patients. Maine itself is unusually welcoming — visiting medical patients from other states can purchase from Maine dispensaries with their valid out-of-state cards.
Do you certify in other states besides Maine?
Yes. We also certify in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, Michigan, Oklahoma, New York, and Louisiana. See our FAQ page for general information across all states.
