Getting Your West Virginia Medical Cannabis Card Is Easier Than You Think

You don't need to be "good with computers" to become or stay a patient. Green Bridge Society helps West Virginians with everything from the doctor call to the state portal and payment.

Most patients only need a quick phone visit once a year to stay active in the program.

Step 1

Tell Us About Yourself

Start by scheduling below or calling our office. We'll collect a few details and answer basic questions about qualifying conditions like chronic pain, PTSD, and more.

Step 2

Quick Phone Visit with the Doctor

During your appointment window, a licensed WV medical cannabis doctor calls you. They review your history, answer questions, and, if appropriate, complete your certification.

Step 3

We Help with the State Portal & Renewal

After your visit, our support team helps with the WV OMC online portal, state fee, and future renewals. If you get stuck at any step, you can call us and we'll walk you through it.

How It Works

Getting your WV card is a two-part process: certification from a doctor (us) and registration with the state (we help with that too).

1. Schedule Your Appointment
Pick a call window β€” morning, afternoon, or evening. Our doctor calls you during that window. Keep your phone nearby.

2. Doctor Certification
Quick telemedicine visit. If approved, our doctor issues your written certification.

3. Complete State Registration
Apply through the WV Office of Medical Cannabis portal. Upload your photo, ID, proof of residency, and certification. Pay the $50 state fee. We help if you get stuck.

4. Receive Your Card
The OMC reviews applications within 30–60 days. Once approved, you download your digital card and can visit any WV dispensary.

Qualifying Conditions in West Virginia

West Virginia allows medical marijuana for these conditions:

ALS β€’ Cancer β€’ Crohn's Disease β€’ Epilepsy β€’ HIV/AIDS β€’ Huntington's Disease β€’ Intractable Seizures β€’ Multiple Sclerosis β€’ Neuropathies β€’ Parkinson's Disease β€’ PTSD β€’ Severe Chronic Pain β€’ Sickle Cell Anemia β€’ Spinal Cord Injury β€’ Terminal Illness

Chronic pain is the most common qualifier. If you have ongoing pain from any condition, you likely qualify.

New Patients vs. Renewals

New Patient β€” $125
Never had a WV card before? This is for you. We certify you and help you complete your state registration from scratch.

Renewal β€” $75
Already have or had a WV card? Even if expired or certified elsewhere, this counts as a renewal.

Note: West Virginia also charges a $50 state application fee (separate from our certification fee). This may be waived for financial hardship.

Common Questions

How long does the doctor call take?
5-10 minutes. Our doctors won't rush you.

What if I miss the call?
Doctor will try again and may text. Calls sometimes show as "Unknown" or "Spam Risk."

How long until I get my card?
The OMC reviews applications within 30–60 days. Once approved, you download your digital card immediately.

Do you help with the state application?
Yes. The OMC portal is confusing β€” we walk you through it.

What can I buy?
WV dispensaries sell vape cartridges, tinctures, capsules, topicals, and dry leaf for vaporization. Edibles were recently approved. Smoking is not permitted.

Can I use my WV card in other states?
WV has limited reciprocity (terminal cancer patients only). We also certify in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Virginia, and Michigan.
