More than a medical marijuana certification company

Ron Boyles did not enter cannabis as an investor or a traditional entrepreneur. He entered it as a patient.

After a severe back injury, multiple surgeries, and nearly two decades in the prescription pain-management system, Ron found himself living a life increasingly controlled by medications. Cannabis changed that direction.

His experience led to the creation of Green Bridge Society in Pennsylvania, with a simple goal: help other patients navigate medical cannabis without judgment, confusion, or unnecessary barriers.

Ron quickly discovered that getting a medical marijuana card was only the beginning. Patients had questions. Lots of them.

Those questions shaped what Green Bridge would become.

Green Bridge Society did not begin with a business plan. It began with Ron's own experience as a patient, nearly two decades of prescription medications, and the realization that cannabis had given him something he thought he had lost.

Hope.

Before the physicians, the pharmacist, the Academy, the patients, or the expansion into other states, Ron wrote a poem about that experience. He called it The Bridge. Looking back, it reads less like a poem written about Green Bridge and more like the moment Green Bridge was born.

What began as one patient's attempt to help another grew well past anything Ron imagined at the start. Today Green Bridge works across multiple states with licensed physicians, pharmacists, support staff, dispensaries, and industry partners.

Ron rarely talked publicly about the size of Green Bridge while building it. That is beginning to change, and not because the number itself is the accomplishment.

Every question, success, frustration, bad experience, and breakthrough has sharpened our understanding of the real-world patient experience. One lesson became impossible to ignore: access without education isn't enough.

The phrase is about more than combustion. It stands for a belief that patients should understand the plant they are using.

Cannabis is far more complicated than a THC percentage. Patients deserve practical education about cannabinoids, terpenes, delivery methods, dosing, onset, duration, tolerance, product selection, and responsible use.

Cannabis should not be reduced to getting high, buying the strongest product on the shelf, or swapping one medication for another. Patients should understand why they are using something, how it works, and what they can reasonably expect from it.

That philosophy led to Green Bridge Academy, which extends the mission beyond certification into structured cannabis education.

Courses are built for patients, healthcare professionals, dispensary employees, and anyone who wants practical cannabis education without the hype. Content includes pharmacist-led instruction and continues to expand into cannabinoids, cannabis safety, responsible use, patient care, and professional industry education.

Getting a medical marijuana card should not be the end of a patient's education. It should be the beginning.

Ron's work with cannabis and hemp reaches past telemedicine and education. Through Lazy Moon Ranch he has cultivated industrial hemp and hosted field-research projects with Penn State researchers, providing farm space for agricultural trials and real-world study of hemp cultivation.

Working the crop directly gave him firsthand experience with both its potential and the infrastructure problems facing American hemp farmers. That work also grew into cannabinoid formulation and product development, including TivaFit, a hemp-derived wellness formulation, and JETT (Just Extracts, Terpenes & Therapeutics), a cannabinoid topical that is the subject of pending U.S. and international patent applications.

It reflects the same curiosity that created Green Bridge in the first place: what can this plant actually do, and how much do we still have to learn?

As Green Bridge grew, so did its advocacy work. Ron speaks regularly about affordability, stigma, workplace policies, responsible use, patient education, and laws that treat lawful medical marijuana patients differently from people using other medications.

That includes Pennsylvania's cannabis DUI laws, where the presence of THC metabolites can carry serious consequences for medical marijuana patients even when actual impairment is disputed.

Responsible advocacy asks something of everyone involved. Patients should use cannabis responsibly. The industry should educate patients honestly. Healthcare professionals should have access to better cannabis education. And laws should rest on evidence rather than on outdated assumptions about the plant.

Despite how much Green Bridge has grown, Ron still identifies first as a patient. That distinction matters. Green Bridge exists because its founder ran into the same things patients still run into today: confusion, stigma, trial and error, poor information, and a healthcare system that historically had very few answers about cannabis.

The company was built to make that experience better for the next patient. That is still the whole job.
