💳 Card Issues

Lost Your Medical Marijuana Card or Didn't Receive It?

Don't panic — this happens all the time. Cards are handled entirely by the state, and a few quick checks in your patient account usually solve it. Pick your state below.

💡 Important: Most states no longer mail physical cards. Pennsylvania still does, but West Virginia, Ohio, Michigan, Maryland, and Oklahoma all use digital cards you download from your state portal. New York, Virginia, Louisiana, and Maine don't issue cards at all — your certification is your access document. Find your state below for the right answer.
Physical card mailed

Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania is the only state we serve that still mails a physical plastic card from the Department of Health. Cards are printed and mailed only after your $50 state fee has been paid and your application is approved.

Allow 7–14 business days from the issued date for delivery.

📬Check your mailing address

Log in to your PA patient portal and verify your mailing address is correct. If there's an error, update it and follow the state's instructions to have a new card sent.

Allow for mailing delays

Cards can take about 7–14 business days to arrive. If it's been longer, confirm your status is Active and the $50 fee was paid.

🆕Request a replacement

If your card was lost or stolen, the PA portal has a link directly in your patient account to request a replacement. We can walk you through it if you can't find it.

Digital card — download from portal

West Virginia

West Virginia does not mail physical cards. Once your application is approved, your card is available as a digital download in your MyComplia portal account.

  1. Log in to MyComplia
  2. Go to your dashboard
  3. Click your approved card to download it
  4. Save the PDF to your phone or print a copy

If your card isn't downloadable yet, your application may still be processing — WV reviews can take 30–60 days. Check the application status in your dashboard.

Digital card — download from registry

Ohio

Ohio issues digital cards through the Ohio Medical Marijuana Registry. There is no physical card mailed to you.

  1. Log in to the Ohio Medical Marijuana Registry
  2. Navigate to Registry Details
  3. Click the Card tab
  4. Click Download to save your card

If you've never activated your card before, look for the Activate Card button first. Cards stay in your account permanently — you can re-download anytime.

Digital card — physical card optional

Michigan

Michigan provides a digital card immediately upon approval through the CRA online portal. A physical card is also mailed within 7–10 days of approval.

  1. Log in to michigan.gov/CRAonline
  2. Find your approved registration
  3. Download the temporary digital card — it's valid immediately at dispensaries

If your physical card hasn't arrived after 14 days, contact the MMMP at 517-284-8599. The digital card works in the meantime.

Digital card free, physical card $25

Maryland

Maryland's digital card is free and available immediately after approval through the Maryland OneStop portal. A physical card is optional and costs $25.

  1. Log in to Maryland OneStop
  2. Open your dashboard and find your approved registration
  3. Print the digital card or save it to your phone

Most patients use the digital card and skip the physical one. If you ordered a physical card and it didn't arrive, contact the MCA at 410-487-8100.

Physical card mailed; digital backup available

Oklahoma

Oklahoma mails a physical card after approval, but you can also access a digital version through the OMMA MedPortal in case yours is lost or hasn't arrived.

  1. Log in to the OMMA MedPortal
  2. Find your patient license
  3. Download the digital version of your card

If your physical card was lost or never arrived after 30 days, log in to the portal and complete a replacement card request. Per OMMA guidance, you may also use your official OMMA approval email or your approval shown in the MedPortal as valid patient ID at licensed dispensaries.

No card — certification only

New York

New York stopped issuing plastic cards in March 2023. Your medical cannabis certification with its Registry ID number is your access document. Bring the certification (paper or on your phone) plus a government-issued photo ID to any licensed New York medical dispensary.

If you've lost the certification, contact your healthcare provider — they can re-issue it. Visit cannabis.ny.gov/patients for more info.

No card — written certification

Virginia

Virginia doesn't require patient registration cards. Your written certification from your practitioner is what you bring to the dispensary, along with a government-issued photo ID. Patients who chose to register can also access a digital card from the CCA Portal.

If you've lost your written certification, contact your practitioner for a re-issue.

No card — pharmacy recommendation

Louisiana

Louisiana's medical marijuana program does not issue cards at all. Your physician sends the recommendation directly to your chosen pharmacy when you're certified. You bring a government-issued photo ID to the pharmacy and they verify your record from the state's closed database.

If you can't get medicine, call your pharmacy first to confirm they received the recommendation. Most issues are resolved at the pharmacy level.

Optional card — printed certification primary

Maine

Maine issues optional registry ID cards, but most patients use the printed certification their provider gives them at the appointment. Both work at any Maine dispensary.

If you've lost both, contact your provider for a re-issue. Visit maine.gov/dafs/ocp/medical-use for the optional card application.
