Minor Patient Certifications & Caregiver Cards

Green Bridge provides minor patient certifications in Pennsylvania. When a patient is under 18, PA requires a registered caregiver to manage and pick up medication. We guide you through both processes.

Certification Process

How PA minor certifications work

Minor certifications are handled carefully and require clinical review. Our certifying physician is a pediatric specialist who reviews documentation of the medical condition and determines whether medical cannabis is an appropriate option.

What to have ready
  • Parent/guardian + caregiver details — legal names as shown on IDs
  • Medical documentation — recent notes, diagnosis records, relevant history
  • Current medication list — sleep, anxiety, seizure meds, etc.
  • Reliable phone number — some calls may show as spam; answer when we call

Pharmacist follow-up is included for all PA minor patients (new & renewing). After certification, our pharmacist supports the caregiver with product type, dosing, timing, side effects, interactions, and adjustments.

Typical sequence
  • Submit intake + schedule your appointment
  • Pediatric specialist reviews documentation and certifies if appropriate
  • Caregiver completes PA portal steps (background check + fingerprinting)
  • Once approved and fees complete, cards are mailed to the address on file

Timelines vary. State portal prompts and processing times can change. Your PA portal status is the best indicator of what's required next.

Sign in and open your caregiver registration area.

Confirm mailing address

Verify your address is correct and complete — mismatches cause delays.

Schedule fingerprinting

Use the portal instructions to find a fingerprinting location and schedule your appointment.

Bring proper ID and keep your confirmation details for reference.

Monitor portal status

Watch for updates, any remaining payment steps, and approval notifications.

Common Questions

PA minor patient FAQ

Do I need a caregiver card if I'm the parent?
For PA minor patients, a registered caregiver is typically required. The PA portal will show what's needed and when each step becomes available. Being the parent doesn't exempt you from the caregiver registration process.
When should I do the background check and fingerprinting?
As soon as the PA portal presents the caregiver registration steps. Starting early helps prevent delays — the background check and fingerprinting process can take 3–4 weeks after your appointment.
What causes delays most often?
Address errors, name mismatches between the portal and your ID, incomplete background check sections, or missed fingerprinting appointments. Double-check everything before submitting — small typos can add weeks to the process.
Will someone help with dosing and product guidance for a minor?
Yes. Our staff pharmacist follows up with all PA minor patients (new and renewing) to support caregiver questions about dosing approach, product types, timing, side effects, drug interactions, and adjustments as the plan evolves.
What if the pediatric specialist decides cannabis isn't appropriate?
The physician makes a clinical decision based on documentation and safety considerations. If cannabis is not an appropriate option, we'll explain why and discuss reasonable next steps. This is a careful, case-by-case clinical determination.
